Designed for an artist inspired by Earthships, this residence reinterprets thermal insulation and passive solar design for the New England climate. The south-facing home is partially embedded within an earth berm and constructed with Nexcem insulated concrete forms made from cement-bonded wood fiber and mineral wool insulation. Inside, the owner is hand-sculpting plaster walls with cob and reclaimed glass bottles, creating a highly personal, expressive interior. More photos coming soon.
