Jenna Yu

With over a decade of architectural design experience, principal designer Jenna Yu focuses on environmentally sustainable design with an emphasis on bio-based building materials, particularly straw, clay, and wood. Yu believes that in a changing climate, our built environment should shelter us with minimal energy input and healthy interiors, but should also store carbon to help minimize global climate change.

Jenna specializes in designing buildings made of panelizelized structurally insulated straw exterior walls. Jenna provides design and permitting expertise for residential and accessory building projects nationwide.

Jenna’s work aligns the client’s vision with the unique features of the build site. Their projects have included garden cottages, tiny houses, accessory dwelling units, garage conversions, additions, single family homes, multi family homes, art studios, commercial care homes, and homesteads.

Jenna is based in New England, though she has designed and collaborated on projects from the Northeast to the South and West Coast. She has experience with getting building permits in the states of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, Tennessee, Oregon, and California. She has been been successful in completing  building permits for both conventional and unconventional buildings in in urban, suburban and rural areas.
